Newtation MCP Server Ask Claude how AI sees your brand.

It puts brand perception, citation tracking, and competitor comparison inside Claude Desktop — four read-only tools Claude picks up on its own. No dashboard to learn, and nothing to pay for.

What it does

Four questions you would otherwise need three dashboards and a spreadsheet to answer — asked in the window you are already working in.

Brand perception audit
How AI systems currently describe you — entity clarity, sentiment, and positioning across the major models.
Citation tracking
Whether the answer engines cite you, your content, or your competitors. What gets referenced, and what gets ignored.
Competitor comparison
Where you are winning, where you are invisible, and where you are being described as something you are not.
Entity clarity score
A structured read on how clearly you resolve as a distinct entity — identity, category association, trust signals.

Start to finish

The whole shape of it before you start. Three steps, and the longest of them is the download.

  1. Get the two free tools

Claude Desktop, and Python 3.10 or newer. Claude runs the tools through Python — you will not write any of it.

  2. Run the installer

One command on macOS, one double-click on Windows. Dependencies resolve themselves.

  3. Restart Claude and ask

Reopen Claude Desktop and ask it how AI describes your brand. The tools are already there.

Install it

Two prerequisites, one command, one restart.

macOS 10.14 or newer

Paste this into Terminal and press return. Dependencies install themselves.

Terminal
 curl -fsSL https://newtationco.app/downloads/install_newtation.sh | bash

Prefer to read it first? Download the script and run it by hand.

Check that it worked

Open Claude Desktop and ask it: “Do you have the Newtation MCP tools installed?” It should answer by listing the brand monitoring tools it now has. If it does not, restart the app first, then your machine.

Then just ask

No query syntax and no field names. The tools are there to be talked to.

  • How do AI systems currently describe [my brand]?
  • What do LLMs say about [my brand] vs [competitor]?
  • Run a full AI presence audit for [my company].
  • Is my brand being cited in AI-generated answers?
  • What's my entity clarity score?
  • Generate a GEO improvement report for [brand].

Where your queries go

The server runs on your machine, so we never see what you ask it. That is not the whole answer, though, because it does talk to search backends.

Searches go to LangSearch first, using the key you supplied. If you also configured a Tavily key, that is the second try. Both are services you hold the account with, and your queries reach them under your own key rather than ours.

If neither answers, there is a third fallback: a rotating set of ten public SearXNG instances — search.hbubli.cc, searxng.site, priv.au, etsi.me and six others. These are volunteer-run servers. We do not operate them, we have no agreement with the people who do, and any of those domains could change hands without telling anyone. A query that reaches one of them carries the brand or the competitor you are researching.

So: configure a LangSearch key, which the installer asks for anyway, and the fallback never runs. If you would rather it could not run at all, SEARXNG_INSTANCES is a list near the top of the server file and emptying it is a supported thing to do — the search path degrades to the backends you control. Nothing is logged to us in any of these cases, because there is no path back to us to log it on.

Questions

What people ask before they paste a command they did not write.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. The installer does the setup, and the tools are used by asking Claude questions in plain English. If you can paste one line into Terminal, or double-click a file, you can run this.

Is it really free?

Yes. The server is free and free API keys are included. There is no card, no trial, and no upsell inside the tool.

Does it send my data anywhere?

The tools are read-only and compute their results on demand. No tool input or output is stored, logged, or used for training. Run locally through Claude Code and nothing leaves your machine at all.

Do I need a Claude Pro subscription?

No. The MCP server works with Claude Desktop on the free plan; a paid plan only changes your usage limits with Claude itself.

How do I update or uninstall it?

Re-run the installer to update. To remove it, delete the Newtation entry from your Claude Desktop config and restart the app.

Full detail on what the server does and does not touch is in the privacy policy.

Nothing to install? Three free AEO tools run in the browser — crawler access, extractability, and a drafted llms.txt.
